Biography
Dr. Rumi Agarwal is a faculty at the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work, and is committed to improving maternal and child health. Her work focuses on improving academic, employment, independent living, and social outcomes for young adults with developmental conditions, as well as examining the experiences and well-being of their caregivers across the lifespan.
To support her research, Dr. Agarwal has received funding from the FIU-RCMI (NIH-U54) Pilot Grant, the Social Security Administration’s ARDRAW Small Grant Program, and the Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities (FCSUA). She has been recognized by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Division of MCH Workforce Development for her contributions to autism-related studies. Dr. Agarwal is also an active member of the American Public Health Association, where she has held multiple leadership roles. She has mentored numerous undergraduate and graduate students at FIU and beyond, and remains committed to guiding those interested in the field of maternal and child health.
